Acclaimed multidisciplinary artist and Michelin Star Chef Minh H Phan is Food Forward’s inaugural Artist in Residence.

“Minh mused and experimented for nearly six months in residence with Food Forward, reflecting on themes of abundance, scarcity, immigration, and connection along the way. We feel incredibly grateful for the dots she connected for us, and for our 80 guests on October 19th, taking us on a personal and nuanced journey depicting how bombs could indeed be turned into food.” – Rick Nahmias, Founder/CEO

As featured in the L.A. Times, Minh explored humanity, ancestral knowledge, and abundance with Food Forward’s warehouse, the Produce Pit Stop, as her on-site studio and Food Forward itself as her muse and collaborator.

“I want to drive home the point that without Food Forward, there would be no understandable and accessible food for other cultures, and that is the heart of what my work has been for the last few decades, transcultural understanding of ingredients and food. By the very nature of Food Forward, it allows immigrants and those that are different to have a language of their own that’s not Spam, Jell-O or processed cheese.” – Minh H Phan
