If you’re looking for a fun, outdoor, and beautiful service experience, Food Forward has volunteer opportunities for everyone in Ventura County throughout the year.
Food Forward volunteers prevent food waste and provide fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in Ventura County who are experiencing food insecurity.
Volunteers recover fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste in two ways:
- Harvesting fruit from trees through our Backyard Harvest program
- Recovering surplus produce from farmers markets through our Farmers Market Recovery program
Volunteer events are two hours or less, and take place on both weekdays and weekends. You’ll get to know the food and agriculture community in Ventura County in a whole new way—from meeting farmers who donate their beautiful produce at farmers markets to seeing gorgeous views while you harvest fruit on local, large properties. The fresh produce you recover at your volunteer event goes directly to our partner hunger relief organizations the same day!
Volunteering with Food Forward is for everyone: adults, families, retirees, working professionals, children, teens, students, and everyone in between. Volunteer opportunities are flexible, and volunteers can set their own schedule. Whether you’re looking for a regular volunteer opportunity, one-time event, or need to complete community service hours, Food Forward’s volunteer community welcomes you! You can volunteer on your own, sign up with friends or family, or build community with other volunteers at our events.
