2013 Foodsteader Tour

The 2013 Foodsteader Tour promises four half-day, hands-on workshops focusing on everything from tomatoes to coffee, from ice cream to autumn fruit preserves - all taught by locally-celebrated experts. Each session rewards you not only with knowledge you can use for a lifetime but also take-home samples, recipes, and this year's new Foodsteader apron!
March 23: Inside Handsome Coffee - Learn the tricks of roasting and brewing with the Master Roaster at Handsome Coffee. Sample a variety of beans, tour the roasting facility while we sip amazing coffee and sample pie from local favorite, The Pie Hole.
June 1: Ice Cream with Karen Klemens of Mother Moo Creamery - Mother Moo Creamery specializes in small batch, homemade ice cream using locally sourced ingredients. Join Karen, creator of Mother Moo Creamery and Mothercluck Preserves, in her kitchen and learn how to make ice cream and create unique artisanal flavors like a pro.
September 7: Tomatoes Galore with Scott Daigre of Tomatomania! - Scott will be giving us the inside scoop on the secrets of tomato cultivation, cooking and preservation. This unique, hands-on class will be hosted at his beautiful home in the hills of Ojai, which serves as his research and development garden.
November 2: Autumn Preserves with Experts Kevin West and Joseph Shuldiner - Join cookbook writers and cottage art experts Kevin West author of the forthcoming Saving the Seasons, and Joseph Shuldiner author of Pure Vegan: 70 Recipes for Beautiful Meals and Clean Living for an insiders lesson on fall fruit preservation and expert culinary techniques. Cost of the class includes a signed copy of both of Kevin's and Joseph's cookbooks.
