Last Saturday, the Food Forward team hosted a book launch/book signing for our founder Rick Nahmias’s new book “Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the Disinherited,” a thought-provoking photo-documentary look at religion on the margins of California which has just been published by University of New Mexico Press. This beautifully designed coffee table book uses nearly 100 images, several essays & oral histories and a foreword by Pulitzer-Winning author, Jack Miles, to document eleven marginalized California communities at prayer across eight different faith traditions. It offers a rare and rich look at religion from the bottom up through a truly interfaith lens.
It was truly a celebration and all of us at Food Forward owe a sincere debt of gratitude to Rick, for his once again leading by example in making 50% of the proceeds of his book sales at this event a gracious donation to Food Forward. This resulted in a generous gift to our organization and a tremendous outpouring of support for Rick’s new book. Another win-win!
Once again we appreciate the hard work and effort of all of those who gave freely of their time to ensure that this event was a success.
