Go tomato-to-toe against food waste.
The markets are full to bursting with fragrant, end-of-summer produce like sweet corn, tomatoes, and basil. Yet 1 in 6 Angelenos experiences food insecurity, while millions of pounds of produce go to waste here in Los Angeles every day. It’s time to #HarvestChange together.
Food Forward teamed up with our friends at Clementine, Lodge Bread Company, Mohawk Bend, Smog City, and Preux & Proper this September through our 2nd Annual Harvest Change campaign.
United by the season — and a reason — Harvest Change partners are each featuring tomato, sweet corn, and basil dishes that support Food Forward’s efforts to recover and donate surplus produce to those who need it most.
- Preux & Proper
Chef Sammy Monsour’s grilled yellow sweet corn features pork cracklins, queso fresco, aleppo, and smokey miso ailoi. We’re grinning ear to ear!
- Smog City Brewing
This mega-limited sweet corn cream ale is ONLY available at their Torrance taproom on Thursday nights in September during Pints with Purpose. A-maize-ing.
- Mohawk Bend
You herb it here first: Mohawk Bend’s Harvest Pie features the holy trinity of heirloom tomatoes, roasted corn, and pesto, plus lemon zest and chile.
If I had a nickel for every tomato served at Clementine this September, well, it’d go to support Food Forward. That’s right, every tomato!
- Lodge Bread Company
Soak up the sun with Lodge Bread Co.’s sungold pie, a pizza sungold tomatoes, mozzarella, opal basil, and garlic.
