Our 1st Pick Leader Academy

Yesterday was another exciting day in the fruitworld as an incredible group of volunteers joined us for our 1st official Pick Leader Academy! We now have 5 new volunteers in Pick Leader training and we hope to have them trained & leading picks this month!

Erica lead an informative and fun morning training for the rising pick leaders. Everyone met at our brand new office, better known as the “Fruit Cave!” After an hour or so of learning the ropes, everyone headed to a property down the street to pick oranges. The rising pick leaders worked together to pick 408 pounds of Valencia Oranges which went directly to fight hunger. Once the pick was done, the group packed up the van, thanked the property owner, took a team photo, and hurried down to SOVA.

Seeing the recipients of the oranges at SOVA made the day even more worth while! Such a great morning! We look forward to graduating the first class of our Pick Leader Academy very soon!
