Our First CAN IT! Class Takes on Meyer Lemons

Our first CAN IT! class on June 4 with The Farmers Kitchen was a great success thanks to Chef Ernest Miller, our volunteers and participants! We canned a big batch of Ginger Meyer Lemon Marmalade and a small batch of California Lemon Liqueur, courtesy of property owners in Reseda and Valley Village.  Both turned out delicious! All the participants got plenty of hands on time in the kitchen and learned the do’s and don’t of canning from a local expert. In addition to the learning experience, they took home marmalade, lemon liqueur, a Food Forward apron, a canning accessory kit and recipe cards.

This was only the first of 4 classes. In August, we look forward to canning tomatoes with Delilah Snell and Evan Kleiman. Preserves will be sold on our website and at The Farmers Kitchen in Hollywood starting in a couple weeks.
